Emma Lowe formerly Asbery

She was born late 1849 or early 1850 at Braithwell {registered in the Rotherham district, in the March quarter 1850}.

In 1861, she was at home with her parents in the High Street, Rotherham (1st Court, 2nd House, after 9 High Street) aged 11.

In the census of 1871, at Searle Yard, High Street, Rotherham, Emma was living with her father, aged 21, a machinist, and born in Bramley. In the house next door, living with his mother, a tobacconist, was Thomas Lowe, aged 25, a tailor, born at Doncaster.

Emma married Thomas Lowe (registered in the Rotherham district, in the September quarter 1871).

In the 1881 census of 73, Drummond Street, Rotherham, she was aged 30, a tailoress. Her husband, Thomas, was aged 35, a tailor, born at Doncaster. With them was her father, George Asbery, aged 75, a carter.

Thomas Lowe was been buried on 1 May 1889 in Moorgate Cemetery, Rotherham, aged 43.

In 1891 at 41 Frederick Street, Rotherham, in 3 rooms (the other houses had 4!) Emma was a widow aged 40, a tailoress.

In the 1901 census of 41 Frederick Street, Rotherham, in three rooms, Emma Lowe was a widow and aged 49, a confectioner. With her is her unmarried niece, Edith Gandy, aged 25 and born at Hull with her daughter Jessie (Emma's great niece), aged 4 and born at Rotherham.

Emma was buried 30 July 1938 in Moorgate Cemetery, Rotherham, aged 88, with her husband and others. No children have so far been found.
