The Family of Elizabeth Johnson

She was baptised 3 October 1791 at Pentrich, a daughter of Alexander Johnson and Hannah formerly Fletcher. She appears to have had an illegitimate son:

  1. George, baptised 1 December 1810 at Pentrich. He was probably the George Johnson living at Butterley Row, Ripley in the census of 1851. He was aged 41 and an iron and brass moulder born at Pentrich. His wife Mary was 38, born at Alfreton and his children were Alexander aged 10, a brass moulder, born at Ripley and Joseph aged 3, also born at Ripley. His sons were:

    1. Alexander, born about 1840/1 at Ripley. In 1881 he was living at 17, Grove Street, Derby, aged 40, a brass moulder, born at Butterley. His wife Jane was aged 42 and born at Heanor. Their children were Joseph aged 16 and George, aged 14, both labourers and born at Derby.

      1. Alexander, baptised 12 July 1859 at Ebenezer United Methodist Free Church, Ripley. He married Edith. In the 1881 census of 1 Court A Craven Street Leicester, he is aged 21, a brass founder born in Ripley. His wife, Edith was aged 20, a hosiery mender and born in Leicester and their children were William H. aged 2, a scholar and Alfred, aged 5 months, both born in Leicester. In the 1901 census he was aged 41, born at Butterley Park, a brass moulder and living at Leicester. Their children were:

        1. William H., born about 1878/9 at Leicester.

        2. Alfred, born about November 1880 at Leicester.

      2. Joseph, born about 1864/5 at Derby

    2. Joseph, born about 1847/8 at Ripley. He married Mary. In the 1881 census of 9 Albert Street, Ripley, he was aged 34, an iron moulder, born at Ripley. Mary, his wife was aged 32 and born at Heage. Their children were George aged 13 born at Ripley, Ann Jane aged 11 born at Derby, Joe aged 9 born at Ripley, Mary Ann aged 7 born at Ripley, Alexander aged 4 born at Ripley, all scholars, and William aged 2 born at Ripley and Tom aged 2 months born at Ripley. Joseph and Mary’s children were:

      1. George, born about 1867/8 at Ripley.

      2. Ann Jane, born 1869/70 at Derby.

      3. Joseph, born 1871/2 at Ripley.

      4. Mary Ann, born 1873/4 at Ripley.

      5. Alexander, born 1876/7 at Ripley.

      6. William, born 1878/9 at Ripley.

      7. Thomas, born about February 1881 at Ripley.
